CHARITY
Inspectorate Steward of Charities Report 2014
I present my report relating to Masonic Charities for the period ending 31st December 2014. I have included a number of statistics in this report, highlighting the support and donations received from our Local Masonic Charities and donations given to assist destitute brethren and their dependents including non-masons from our community. I would ask our Brethren to share these details, reminding them how generous our Inspectorate is for our Charities to continue.
The Calpe Lodge Benevolent Fund
In 2014 the GP Committee under my chairmanship (WBro Andrew Victor) we donated a total sum of £ 700.00 to different local Charities.
As customary we sent each of our Widows a Christmas cheque for £ 100.00 to assist them with their festive expenditure, and I wish to again place on record out thanks to the Asst Grand Insp., Almoner, and Treasurer for accompanying us during these visits.
The Emergency Relief Fund
We continue to support the different charitable cases and assist personnel towards medical treatment and financial difficulties, to date we have a total balance of £ 1388.04
One non-masonic person received financial support towards home improvements provided by the Fund.
Another non-masonic person received financial support towards medical treatment I am pleased to report that following the successful events organised this year, together with the contributions received from Calpe Lodge, Irish Masters, and Chapter members to the Emergency Relief Fund have increased our funds.
Our objective is to continue to support those needy brethren of the Inspectorate, any mason within our Institute or non-mason of our community.
We continue to receive income from many members although limited donations due to what I consider the current financial climate, and sometimes contributions from our Benevolent Fund. I would hope that these sources do not weaken from the on-going practice of Lodge members making contributions for which we are ever grateful. This in turn allows the Emergency Relief Fund Committee to continue to increase the level of grants each year, thus insuring our applicants receive support which undoubtedly does make a difference to their otherwise limited circumstances.
From Grand Lodge Benevolent Funds I must remind the brethren, that we are entitled to apply whereby assistance is given to needy Brethren and their dependents courtesy of the following four major Masonic Charities ;
Masonic Girls Benefit Fund
Masonic Boys Benefit Fund
Victoria Jubilee Masonic Benevolent Fund
Masonic Welfare Fund
To date we have no local applications.
In conclusion may I place on record my grateful thanks to the Almoners and SoC’s from both Lodges and Brethren who work tirelessly to assist in dealing with the different requests, which are usually processed through us the Almoners and SoC, of Calpe Lodge and The Irish Masters.
